Finish-Along Q2 2018
1. (Q3 2015) I'm making a low-volume and turquoise version of a scrappy trip around the world quilt. Although I won't finish this quilt this quarter, I'd like to start the piecing! (I said that last quarter. And the one before. I haven't started the piecing...)
3. (Q4 2015) This was going to become a table runner, but I've changed my mind and it's now going to become...wait for it...a pouch!
4. (Q1 2015) Oh, this poor quilt! It's been on several of my FAL lists and was, briefly, a finish. Then I realised that there was a problem with the quilting (the bobbin thread keeps snapping) and I've been meaning to replace the quilting. I've done one line (with different stitch length and tension from the first time) but, I'll be honest, it's mind-numbing work. I'm going to change my plan slightly and replace the lines where threads have snapped and then leave the rest but quilt in the ditch of all the sashing strips. That should be enough to stop the bias stretch on the quilt, which, I think, is exacerbating the problem with the quilting. If it doesn't, I might quilt in the ditch round the grey block borders. I have to be careful not to add too much quilting as it's already bound but I'm hoping I'll get away with it...
5. (Q1 2016) These are the last remnants of the grey and yellow fabric that Mam bought to make her sewing machine cover and I'm hoping to cobble something together to use them all up. Two pieces have wadding fused to the back (the result of a miscalculation) and I'm planning to make a storage basket/pouch with these last oddly-sized bits.
6. (Q1 2016) At the end of last year, Hadley had a 'win my WIP' giveaway in order to
7. (Q2 2016) I have been planning this quilt since at least 2013 and would like to at least make a start on prepping blocks. (I've been saying that for a while...) I have a range of backgrounds and can't decide whether to go scrappy or not (which is why I have quite a lot of some of them) and some gorgeous Oakshott (Scandinavian, I think). The block pattern is in the photo and I've already completed a test block. (See the fabrics third and fourth down from the stack of grey/white background fabrics? They're supposed to be the same colour...)
8. (Q2 2016) I've made progress on my ET quilt in the past few weeks and now have nine blocks pieced and the pieces cut for another four blocks. I'm really enjoying it and hope to continue until all the blocks are pieced. (No idea how many there'll be, I'll either run out of background fabric or enthusiasm and that will stop me!)
9. (Q3 2016) I need to turn this piece of embroidered ticking into a pouch (with detachable strap) for my ipod.
10: (Q4 2016) I'm going to turn this pink pin cord into a round neck pinafore version of the Kate dress:
11. (Q4 2016) This black and white lawn is going to be a Kate dress
12. (Q4 2016) This rather 80s winter sports print (it really could be from then as it came out of someone's loft!) is going to become a version of the Kate dress, possibly with a v neck and long/elbow length sleeves.
13. (Q4 2016) I started these jama bottoms in 2013 - they're made from an old quilt cover.
14. (Q4 2016) I'm going to make another pair of jama bottoms from this rather snazzy fabric, which I think my mam bought my brother in the early 90s when he made himself a few cushions for his room.
15 and 16. (Q2 2017) The middle fabric in this pile is going to become my second Everyday Blouse, and the top fabric is going to become a Kate dress:
17. (Started around October 2012) This is another project that I won't get finished this quarter (or next!), but I want it back on my list. Next step is to cut the pieces for the nine patches which will alternate with the embroidered blocks. (I may even finish writing the stories behind the blocks, you never know!)
18. (Q2 2017) I want to make a Christmas quilt (yes, another one!) from these pieces of Winterkist. I'm going to make a version of Sarah's Stained quilt, with navy sashing (thanks, Salley!):
20. (Q2 2017) I'm making a mini quilt for a friend and am keeping the details a surprise. The block(s) will be from page 226 of the book and I'm making them the same size as the template, rather than enlarging it. I'll be making a few of the blocks, I'm not saying how many!
21. (Q4 2017) The pinafore I made last year needs a lining (it needs a slip under it, but the armholes are too low for the slips I have, so a lining it is):
22. (Q4 2017) I want to make a (giant) cushion using this lovely snowman fabric which was given to me by Jennie, and I'm going to use the same technique as I did for the penguin cushion I made last year.
23. (Q1 2018) Pouch using this gorgeous furnishing weight remnant which a friend gave me:
24. (Q2 2018) I've cut out the pieces to make a short-sleeved Lark tee:
25 - 32. (Q2 2018) These need to be turned into socks for next winter:
33. (Q2 2018) A friend of Mini Archie's needs a cardigan:
34 and 35. (Q2 2018) I need two small drawstring bags to keep socks in progress in:
36. (Q2 2018) Mam has asked me to make her a bag like the one I finished for me last quarter. She went to the same workshop and got even less done than me!
Look! My list is shorter than it was last quarter! Hooray!!! Although I have retained my membership of the #ridiculouslylongFALlist gang, which is nice... (Although I will be adding this to the list at some point this year...)
I wonder whether I've once again got a longer FAL list than Jennie's Threads? (She has me comprehensively beaten with her wip list to end all wip lists!)
Mini Archie is on hand to make sure I stick to the straight and narrow with his new ceremonial stick which arrived all the way from Australia yesterday:
There's even a shield to go with it:
I sometimes wonder if I should just list everything on my list! Then I decide it would take me too long!!! Good luck!
ReplyDeleteThat is quite a list! Good luck!
ReplyDeleteI love the colors in your ET quilt! It is going to be great no matter how you finish it.
ReplyDeleteHa! I only listed 20. Good luck finishing!
ReplyDeleteI am exhausted just reading your list! And am impressed that you have taken the time to figure out your list. Good luck this quarter!
