Finish-Along Q4 2017
1. (Q2 2014) I am hoping that this Christmas is the Christmas I finish this quilt. I know, it's a bold hope, but I'm going to see if I can manage it. (It's my Christmas Cherry quilt, based on the Made In Cherry pattern by Sarah Fielke.) I've quilted all the background of the centre star and have started on the borders.
5. (Q3 2015) A friend bought me this lovely embroidery outline a while ago and I'd love to make it into a pouch. I've finally started it!! (I know, I hope you were sitting down!)
6. (Q3 2015) I'm making a low-volume and turquoise version of a scrappy trip around the world quilt. Although I won't finish this quilt this quarter, I'd like to start the piecing! (I said that last quarter. I didn't start the piecing...)
8. (Q4 2015) This was going to become a table runner, but I've changed my mind and it's now going to become...wait for it...a pouch!
9. (Q1 2015) Oh, this poor quilt! It's been on several of my FAL lists and was, briefly, a finish. Then I realised that there was a problem with the quilting (the bobbin thread keeps snapping) and I've been meaning to replace the quilting. I've done one line (with different stitch length and tension from the first time) but, I'll be honest, it's mind-numbing work. I'm going to change my plan slightly and replace the lines where threads have snapped and then leave the rest but quilt in the ditch of all the sashing strips. That should be enough to stop the bias stretch on the quilt, which, I think, is exacerbating the problem with the quilting. If it doesn't, I might quilt in the ditch round the grey block borders. I have to be careful not to add too much quilting as it's already bound but I'm hoping I'll get away with it...
10. (Q1 2016) These are the last remnants of the grey and yellow fabric that Mam bought to make her sewing machine cover and I'm hoping to cobble something together to use them all up. Two pieces have wadding fused to the back (the result of a miscalculation) and I'm planning to make a storage basket with these last oddly-sized bits.
11. (Q1 2016) At the end of last year, Hadley had a 'win my WIP' giveaway in order to
12. (Q2 2016) I have been planning this quilt since at least 2013 and would like to at least make a start on prepping blocks. (I've been saying that for a while...) I have a range of backgrounds and can't decide whether to go scrappy or not (which is why I have quite a lot of some of them) and some gorgeous Oakshott (Scandinavian, I think). The block pattern is in the photo and I've already completed a test block. (See the fabrics third and fourth down from the stack of grey/white background fabrics? They're supposed to be the same colour...)
13. (Q2 2016) If I don't get the pointy points quilt started, it would be nice to make progress on my ET quilt instead. I have two blocks pieced and pieces cut for more blocks (but not enough background to make a whole block). One more completed block would be nice!
14. (Q3 2016) I need to turn this piece of embroidered ticking into a pouch (with detachable strap) for my ipod.
15. (Q3 2016) I started a bag for me last year, but have changed my mind about the fabric, so am now using this:
16. (Q4 2016) I'm going to turn this pink pin cord into a round neck pinafore version of the Kate dress:
17. (Q4 2016) This black and white lawn is going to be a Kate dress
18. (Q4 2016) This rather 80s winter sports print (it really could be from then as it came out of someone's loft!) is going to become a version of the Kate dress, possibly with a v neck and long/elbow length sleeves.
19. (Q4 2016) I started these jama bottoms in 2013 - they're made from an old quilt cover.
20. (Q4 2016) I'm going to make another pair of jama bottoms from this rather snazzy fabric, which I think my mam bought my brother in the early 90s when he made himself a few cushions for his room.
21. (Q4 2016) Socks for me:
23. (Q1 2017) Mam bought me four balls of baby cashmerino to knit a scarf. It's hopefully going to be mine, but if I can't wear it (I struggle to wear most yarns, even completely acrylic ones), then she'll get it! I'm going to use the zickzack pattern.
24. (Q1 2017) I need to make a business card holder for my sister-in-law, who makes the most wonderful wedding stationery. These are her new cards, and the fabric is a table runner she used to have out at Christmas but which has wax splodges on it. If this fabric isn't suitable for all of it (need to work out how to stabilise a press stud or some sort of fastening), then I'll try to use a bit of it as a feature strip.
25 and 26. (Q2 2017) The middle fabric in this pile is going to become my second Everyday Blouse, and the top fabric is going to become a Kate dress:
27. (Has been so long in the making that I don't remember when I started it.) This is another project that I won't get finished this quarter (or next!), but I want it back on my list. Next step is to cut the pieces for the nine patches which will alternate with the embroidered blocks. (I may even finish writing the stories behind the blocks, you never know!)
28. (Q2 2017) I want to make a Christmas quilt (yes, another one!) from these pieces of Winterkist. I'm going to make a version of Sarah's Stained quilt, with navy sashing (thanks, Salley!):
30. (Q2 2017) This gorgeous Sevenberry cotton/linen mix is going to become a Kate dress (with the crochet trim round the hem):
31. (Q2 2017) I'm making a mini quilt for a friend and am keeping the details a surprise. The block(s) will be from page 226 of the book and I'm making them the same size as the template, rather than enlarging it. I'll be making a few of the blocks, I'm not saying how many!
32. (Q2 2017) This will become rabbit for a friend's daughter (pattern is Clover by Jodie Carleton):
33 and 34. (Q3 2017) Mam has asked me to finish off these two cushions for her:
35. (Q4 2017) I started this crochet wreath last year, had to abandon it because Christmas was fast approaching and I hadn't wrapped any presents or put the tree up and it was 23rd December. I'm hoping to have it finished in time to put up before Christmas this year...
36. (Q4 2017) I started making these crochet decorations last year and couldn't decide what to do with them. Then I remembered a polystyrene wreath ring I had in a drawer and decided to put the two together to make (another) wreath:
37. (Q4 2017) I started knitting these lovely star decorations last year (are you sensing a theme?), but didn't have time to finish them. Disgracefully, I bet there's only an hour's work left in them.
38. (Q4 2017) Mini Archie demanded I make him a quilt. Out of quarter inch hexies. I thought it might be finished before the quarter started, but he kindly gave me a week off, so it isn't:
39. (Q4 2017) Mini Archie would also like a jumper so I am going on a Fair Isle knitting workshop in order to grant his wish. The workshop is intended to be for making decorative pot covers, but (and this won't come as any surprise to my lovely friend who is running the workshop) I'm going to adapt the pattern to become the body of a tiny jumper. I'll worry about the sleeves when I get to them.

40. (Q4 2017) I need something to hold some documents which live in my handbag and I'm going to use this gorgeous batik (and some heavyweight interfacing) to make a fabric envelope for them to replace the torn paper envelope they came in.
41. (Q4 2017) The pinafore I made last year needs a lining (it needs a slip under it, but the armholes are too low for the slips I have, so a lining it is):
42. (Q4 2017) I want to make a (giant) cushion using this lovely snowman fabric which was given to me by Jennie, and I'm going to use the same technique as I did for the penguin cushion I made last year.
And, once again, I've retained my membership of the #ridiculouslylongFALlist gang this quarter! Now there's a surprise!
Mini Archie is determined to make me finish the Christmas quilt (and that's just for starters):
